Photograph repair and restoration service

Repair torn photograph

This restoration was a fortieth birthday present for a client.

The original print was a black and white 6"x4", badly faded and torn into three sections by an adventurous toddler.

Restoration was simple:  The image was scanned at a high resolution of 1200dpi and the three sections reassembled.  Once the image was whole again, some artefacts where removed from the background and the whole image rebalanced and reframed.

Enlarged prints of 10"x8" were produced from the restored image and the client framed the photograph just in time for the birthday celebrations.

Fee: What ever the client wanted to pay - in this case £45.00

Golden Wedding Anniversary

An idea present for a memorable anniversary.

The original photograph was a traditional wedding print of just under 6"x4", torn, creased across the brides face and featuring ink stains and the impression of ball point pen.

Restoration was simple:  The image was scanned at 1200dpi and immediately reframed / rotated slightly.  The area behind the bridesmaid was rebuilt, the crease retouched and the ink / ball point pen impressions were removed.  The whole image was then rebalanced.

10"x8" prints were produced for the client, who use the photograph as a centre piece for an up-to-date wedding album.

Fee:  What ever the client wanted to pay - in this case £30.00

65th Birthday Present

Restoring a treasured memory

The original photograph was a small print, approximately 3"x4".  Badly faded, with considerable distraction in the background, this photograph was badly in need of some tender loving care.

Restoration was simple:  After taking a high resolution scan, the image was immediately cropped just below the seated figures.  The distracting "mast" and ropes in the background were removed and the buildings restored.

The whole image was then sharpened up slightly and the colours rebalanced to give it a "new photograph" appearance.

10"x8" prints were delivered to the client, who framed one in memory of a day at the beach some 60 years ago

Special Present

This restoration was for a client who wanted to recapture look of youth.

The original photograph was 6"x4" and generally out of focus.  The subject was well framed, but a telegraph pole spoilt the overall look and feel of the photograph.

Restoration was simple:  After scanning at 1200dpi, the telegraph pole and some background noise were removed.  The image was then selectively sharpened, leaving the seated figure looking somewhat "dreamy".

Then whole image was then cropped slightly and the colours adjusted to make it look more "natural".

10"x8" prints were produced for the client, who also requested a "sepia" version to retain the "aged" look.

Fee:  What ever the client wanted to pay - in this case £40.00
